The Division of Student Life has discussed co-curricular transcripts off and on for years. Through the Division's Envisioning process and Innovation Councils in 2015-2016, the conversation reemerged as to what role can a co-curricular transcript play at Creighton.
University transcripts are a static document that present students' academic records. While often utilized for admission into graduate school and for employment, the academic transcript tells the student's story via a singular lens. Consistent with cura personalis, personal care of the individual, a co-curricular transcript could provide a secondary lens by which to view a student. Employers and graduate schools could use this information as a differentiator. If two students have similar transcripts and grades, a co-curricular transcript would add additional information regarding experiences and skills gained.
In 2015, the Lumnia Foundation awarded a $1.34 million grant to the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRO) and NASPA - Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education to jointly work on a comprehensive student record (CSR) (Merisotis, 2016). CSR is the preferred terminology since it includes much more than courses and grades.
Creighton is excited to announce the launch of the Creighton Comprehensive Student Record (CCSR) in the fall 2018. Creighton's CCSR will be a four year program that will culminate in a capstone experience.
