The Tobacco-Free Campus policy went into effect in 2008, banning the use of tobacco and tobacco products on campus. With support from a resolution by CSU and the work of the Tobacco-Free Campus Committee, University leadership revised the policy in 2014 to include a system of enforcement measures to ensure adherence to the policy. Effective July 1, 2014, Public Safety Officers who observe students, faculty and staff using tobacco products on campus property may issue citations similar to a parking ticket with a fine of $24.00. The fine will be discounted by 50 percent if it is paid within 24 hours. These fines will be used to support tobacco cessation programming.
