New Student FAQs

About Us

Centrally located on campus, Creighton Student Health Services (SHS) provides a convenient source of healthcare services.  We are a full-service medical clinic staffed with physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and certified medical assistants. Learn more about us.

Immunization Requirements

Creighton University has immunization requirements for all students registered for classes on campus to protect the health and well-being of our campus community. Please use TheBirdHouse to record and upload your vaccine data.

Health Insurance Requirements

Creighton University requires that all full-time students (Undergraduate = 12 credits/semester; Graduate = 8 credits/semester) be covered by a comprehensive health insurance plan for the entire academic year.

Immunotherapy (allergy injections)

In addition to providing comprehensive primary care services, we also offer immunotherapy (allergy injections) administered by our allergy nurse under the direction of your allergist. Learn more about this process at SHS.

What to Pack

  • Insurance Cards
Bring a copy of ALL insurance cards (medical, pharmacy, dental, etc.). Photocopies are acceptable (front and back of card).  SHS can file claims at time of service if your student has a copy of the insurance card.
  • List of Allergies
Bring a complete list of all medication allergies.
  • Medication Prescriptions
Bring a medical provider's copy of all current prescriptions to fill a new order or a container with the current pharmacy name and number of refills to transfer the prescription.  Learn more about the pharmacies located near SHS.
  • Eyeglass Prescription
Pack a current copy of your eyeglass or contact prescription.
  • Medicine Cabinet Items
We recommend these items for a well-stocked college student's medicine cabinet.
