Student Accounts Holds

The Business Office reserves the right to place a hold on a student account for the reasons listed below. Please read about your hold type and how to remove it and let us know if you have any questions!

 

The holds listed below prevent registration for a future term and do not allow for a student to obtain a transcript (both official and unofficial) or a diploma until the account issue is resolved. The FR Hold only prevents future registration.

BO

Business Office Hold

This hold can be placed for any reason but is generally used on past due tuition account balances.

This hold can only be removed if all outstanding items have been satisfied, which may include paying the account in full.

FR

Statement of Financial Responsibility Hold

The SFR needs to be signed each Academic Year between June 1 and June 30 to avoid a hold.  You will have this hold if you have not yet completed the SFR.

To remove this hold, please login to your NEST account, read through or print the SFR, and click “I Agree” at the bottom of the page.  This hold will be automatically removed from your account upon completion.

IF

Returned Payment Hold

If a payment has been attempted and returned to the University for any reason, this hold will be placed.

Successful completion of the payment must be made.  There is a holding period based on what type of payment is made for the second attempt.  If you pay by e-credit card, the hold may be removed immediately.  If you pay by e-check, the hold may be removed 5 business days after the processing date (after 10AM).  If you pay by personal check (a paper check), the hold may be removed after 10 business days.

Scholarship Check Hold

Congratulations on your scholarship!  If you have this hold, we require your signature on the check we have received.

Stop by the Business Office in Creighton Hall, Room 113, to sign the check.  We will get it applied to your account quickly and remove the hold for you!

SE

Heartland ECSI Student Exit Interview Hold

Students that fall below half-time status at any time and have a loan held through Creighton University must complete an Exit Interview with Heartland ECSI (our loan servicer).

Search your Creighton email account for an email from webmaster@ecsi.net with instructions on how to complete the Exit Interview.  If you cannot find the email, it’s no problem!  Just email us at studentaccounts@creighton.edu, and we’ll send you a new email.  The interview is conducted online through a survey and will take about 20 minutes to complete.  This hold will be automatically removed from your account the next business day by 12PM.

Heartland ECSI Student Loan Past Due Hold

This hold is used when a student is past due on their student loan held with Creighton University (serviced by Heartland ECSI).

You must pay the past due balance in full to have this hold removed.  You may be able to consolidate your loans, if you are not able to make the payment in full.  If this is an option you’d like to pursue, please be aware that Creighton cannot suggest a lender to you.

TU

Tuition Account Hold

This hold is placed when a student has an outstanding tuition account balance with the University, or the payment plan for the semester requires an adjustment.

If you are on a payment plan, login to view your payment plan on Nelnet, choose Actions, and choose Adjust Balance. Please email studentaccounts@creighton.edu to have the hold released.

If you are not on a payment plan, this hold can only be removed if the balance is paid in full. If you make a payment today, the hold will be automatically released at 6AM the following business day.
