Overview

The Division of Student Life Diversity Action Team (DAT) was formed in the spring of 2007.  Charged by Dr. John C. Cernech, Vice President for Student Life, DAT has crafted a diversity policy statement, launched a continuing education plan for every staff member in the Division, and hosted listening sessions to hear the concerns of students on our campus.  Framed within the context of understanding cultural competencies, DAT is guided by A Typology of Intergroup Competencies by V. Jean Ramsey and Jean Kantambu Latting.

As of Fall 2014, Dr. Tanya Winegard, Vice Provost for Student Life, created the "For and With Others" Committee as a merger of the former Diversity Action Team and Staff Development Committees.  The For and With Others Committee now coordinates the GO! program for Student Life employees.  Launched at the Division of Student Life Symposium on May 29, 2015, the GO! Program revises and builds upon the IDEA program (which concludes at the end of June 2015).

The GO! program stands for...
Get Out of your office
Get Out of your comfort zone
Go Out to the margins
